Dieter Simon (born July 25, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player . The all-rounder played 21 games in the 2nd Bundesliga for SSV Ulm 1846 .

Career

Simon came from FV Illertissen to SSV Ulm 1846 in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in 1985 . Behind the strikers Uwe Spies , Dieter Kohnle and Marcus Sorg , the free-kick specialist distinguished himself as a dangerous midfielder, with nine goals this season he was the club's fourth best goalscorer and thus played a decisive role in the rise of the "Spatzen" to the 2nd Bundesliga. In the second division season 1986/87 he contributed with three goals this season in 21 season games to relegation. Without playing, he followed the team's relegation to the league in the following season. There he was successful again as a regular goalscorer, but the club initially only succeeded in the middle of the table. The team only returned to the road to success in the 1991/92 season , but despite seven goals this season from Simon, who has meanwhile been converted into a Libero, was six points behind the league champions SSV Reutlingen 05 . For the 1993 championship he again contributed seven goals, in the promotion round the club failed in second behind TSV 1860 Munich . Then Simon left the club.

Later, Simon worked as a coach in the amateur field around Ulm, where he looked after FC Burlafingen , SV Oberelchingen , TSG Söflingen and SV Pfaffenhoffen, among others .
