Dieter Zahn
Dieter Zahn (born February 8, 1940 in Magdeburg ) is a German double bass player .
Life
From the age of 14 he received double bass lessons from F. Richter at the Fachschule für Musik Magdeburg. From 1958 to 1961 he studied with Heinz Zimmer at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin . In 1961 he became a musician in the orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin . In 1967 he became solo bassist at the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra . In 1970 he was one of the founding members of the Neue Musik Hanns Eisler group . From 1983 he was also a member of the Leipzig Consort . Concerts have taken him to many European countries and Central America. He has received several awards with the Eisler Group a. a. with the Art Prize of the GDR (1980), the badge of honor of the Association of Composers and Musicologists of the GDR in Gold (1988) and the Schneider-Schott Music Prize Mainz (1991).
