Dieter Zeller

Dieter Zeller (born June 24, 1939 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † February 16, 2014 ) was a German Catholic theologian and religious scholar .

Life

Dieter Zeller studied philosophy , Catholic theology and biblical studies in Freiburg and Rome. In 1967 he earned a licentiate in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, in 1972 he was at Anton Vogtle in Freiburg with the investigation Jews and Gentiles in the mission of Paul Dr. theol. PhD . During his doctorate, he worked as an assistant to Alfons Deissler . In 1976 he completed his habilitation with Anton Vögtle with the investigation The wisdom warnings at the Synoptics . From 1980 to 1982 he was Professor of the New Testament at the University of Lucerne , and from 1982 at the University of Mainz . After applying for laicization , he received a professorship for the religious studies of Hellenism in Mainz in 1984 . In 1989, the Evangelical Theological Faculty appointed him to the University of Heidelberg for honorary professor of New Testament. In 2004 he retired .
