Dieter Zoller

Karl Dieter Zoller (born October 6, 1921 in Breslau ; † February 19, 1993 in Rastede ) was a German prehistoric scientist .

Life

From 1954 to 1959 he carried out the archaeological survey of the Ammerland district and from 1960 worked full-time in the state museum service in Oldenburg (Oldb) .

In 1965 Dieter Zoller received a research contract from the German Research Foundation for settlement archaeological studies. In the same year he founded the settlement archaeological research center in Bad Zwischenahn .

In 1967 he became a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute , in 1971 he received the " Brothers Grimm Medal " of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen "for his special merits in the field of prehistoric and early historical research, in particular for his work in the field of settlement studies of the northwestern German plains, castle and path research ". On 17 February 1972, he was of the Faculty of Kiel University the honorary doctorate awarded. From 1974 to 1986 he was the head of the land monument maintenance department of the Weser-Ems district government .
