Dieter van der Eyken (born April 1, 1992 in Stabroek ) is a Belgian windsurfer . His greatest success is the 2015 freestyle world championship .

biography

Van der Eyken started surfing in 1999 and started a freestyle competition for the first time in 2002. After his debut in the Windsurf World Cup 2010, he was able to establish himself in the top 10 freestylers in the years to come. He also came second in the EFPT in 2012 and 2013 (Vice European Champion). Van der Eykens' most successful season so far. After a fourth place in the first freestyle competition, he was able to win the World Cup on the Costa Calma ( Fuerteventura ). After the last event on Sylt had to be canceled, he was confirmed as world champion. From then on, he also started in wave riding and was consistently in the top 20 in both disciplines, but was unable to match the performance of 2015.

Van der Eyken mainly trains with other locals such as Steven van Broeckhoven , Maaike Huvermann and Davy Scheffers on Brouwersdam .
