Georg D. Falk

Georg D. Falk (born August 5, 1949 in Marburg ) is a German lawyer . Until 2014 he was presiding judge at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main . Since 2006 he has been a member of the State Court of Hesse .

Life

Growing up in the Schwalm in Hessen, he passed the Abitur in 1968 at the grammar school of the Melanchthon School in Steinatal . He then studied law and political science at the Philipps University in Marburg . After the second state examination he was a lawyer a. a. active in competition law. In 1979 he switched to the judicial service of the State of Hesse as a judge. In 1993 he became a judge at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt / M., Where in 2005 he took over the chairmanship of the 4th Civil Senate, which was primarily concerned with notarial liability matters and compensation due to excessively long proceedings.

In 2006 he was elected a full member of the Hessian State Court.

In 2011, the Law Faculty of the Philipps University of Marburg awarded him an honorary doctorate.

Since 1982 he has been a lecturer at Philipps University. He leads the advanced training conference of the state of Hesse for trainee lawyers, judges and public prosecutors on the subject of "Justice in the Nazi State". He has written numerous publications on the subject.

In addition to his judicial work at the Hessian State Court, he now works as an expert and arbitrator in arbitration proceedings . In addition, he is primarily involved in the field of legal history . His contribution to the "Insight 14" bulletin of the Fritz Bauer Institute in October 2015 sparked ongoing arguments .

Falk lives in Marburg and is a member of the SPD.
