Maaike Huvermann (born November 25, 1997 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch windsurfer . Over the past four years she has established herself among the world's best in freestyle and has been runner-up in the world three times ( 2016 , 2017 and 2018 ).

biography

Huvermann started windsurfing when he was eight. After starting her competitive career in 2011, she took part in a World Cup event on the Costa Calma ( Spain ) for the first time in 2013 . In the coming year she was 3rd in the Freesytele World Cup and also Junior World Champion. She was able to repeat these successes in the 2015 season . In the following season she was able to improve again and became vice world champion in freestyle and again junior world champion. The 2017 season was Huvermann's best so far. She became vice world champion again, but her final opponent Sarah-Quita Offringa , who has been freestyle world champion since 2007, beat her by just 1.2 points. No opponent Offringa has been so close to the title in the past ten years. So she almost fulfilled the prophecy of her idol Offringa, which said to Huvermann that one day she would beat her and become world champion. In 2018 and 2019 she was again vice world champion. At the Windsurf World Cup Sylt 2019 she was also able to achieve a wave podium for the first time.

Huvermann lives in Ridderkerk and mainly trains on Brouwersdam , where she also z. T. is trained by former world champion Dieter van der Eyken . Her favorite moves are Skopu , Kono and Shaka .
