The Dietersbachtal (also Gerstrubertal ) is a side valley of the Trettach valley near Oberstdorf in the Allgäu . It is framed northeast by the 2259  m high Höfats and southwest by the 1961  m high cone head . The Dietersbach, which rises below the Rauheck, flows into the Trettach after leaving the valley via the Hölltobel . The former 400 to 500 year old mountain farming village of Gerstruben is a popular excursion destination . A hiking trail leads from here over the Hahnenkopf into the Oytal . Another hiking trail leads from Gerstruben via Gerstrubner-Alp to Dietersbach-Alp and from there via Älpelesattel and Käser-Alp into the Oytal.

There are still natural forests on the slopes that have never been completely cut down. This is why the rare lung lichen , which has almost died out in Germany, also grows here on old trees .

In 1892/93 all nine local farmers sold their property to an electricity company. They left the valley because a reservoir was to be built here. However, the project was not implemented. In 1896 the land became the property of Freiherr von Heyl, who used the area for hunting. In 1953, his wife sold the entire area to the Oberstdorfer Rechtler association, an association of Oberstdorf citizens.
