Create

As an archivist , Diether Blüm was responsible for the “memory of the city of Bensheim” in over a thousand meters of files. The earliest original documents date back to 1258. He understood his task very closely to the citizen. Among other things, he succeeded in inspiring volunteer employees from all generations to simple as well as demanding activities in the museum and archive area. In addition to his job, he dealt intensively with local research, e.g. B. as editor of the Bergstrasse home papers , a regular supplement to the Bergstrasse gazette . He also gave lectures on local history and guided city tours. Even as a handicraft speaker , he brought his topic closer to the audience. As an author of urban history publications, he was extremely productive; He bequeathed his estate on the history of the city of Bensheim - around 20 meters of shelf space - to the Institute for the History of People in Bensheim. His efforts for the Heimatmuseum were just as commendable: primarily collecting, interpreted for posterity, preserving and locally oriented.

Among other things, he was one of the founding members of the VORNERUMtheater. His first play Hinnerum - Dilltapp und die Fraa vun Bensem , which was performed in 1992 and re-staged in 2014 on the occasion of the Hessentag in Bensheim , was decisively shaped by the city archivist in 1991/92 thanks to his extensive and detailed knowledge of the history of the city of Bensheim been. In the play itself he played the role of town clerk. Since 2004, the VORNERUMtheater has also been showing the scenic city tour When Stones Could Tell , the title of which goes back to a book by Diether Blüm.
