Dietherr von Anwanden

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dietherr von Anwanden were one of the families capable of being judged who provided the so-called Second State of the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg - first mentioned in a document in 1431. Only capable of being judged from 1730 onwards, they no longer managed to be co-opted into the patriciate .

history

The origin of the Dietherr is not clear. It is likely that they, like many Nuremberg families, came from the high medieval ministry. In 1431 the first representative of the family was mentioned in a document in Nuremberg. Here they belonged early to the sexes of the Erbarkeit , were able to occupy offices that otherwise could only be obtained through councilors and were repeatedly elected to the Greater Council from 1509 onwards . They were denied access to the Inner Council , although as early as the 16th century they entered into marital connections with the patrician families Schlüsselfelder and Tucher .

In 1517 the master goldsmith Jörg Dietherr became mint master in the imperial city mint . The Dietherr held the office for four generations until 1610 and exercised it as a permanent manager of the mint. They worked on behalf of others, but also as independent entrepreneurs. For the supply of raw materials, the Dietherr engaged in long-distance trading as a precious metal trader and mining company in the Annaberg silver district in the Ore Mountains and in Transylvania .

Before 1577 they bought Anwanden near Roßtal, built the castle (probably 1550) and called themselves Dietherr von Anwanden from then on . Ludwig Dietherr von Anwanden acquired Schwaig in 1630 and founded the Schwaig line, which expired in 1709. In 1730 the Dietherr were able to take legal action and in 1813 they were enrolled in the simple Bavarian nobility. Shortly afterwards, in 1819, they became extinct in the male line.
