Dietmar Kolbus (born January 17, 1966 in Rahden ) is a German chess player .

His club was the SG Trier , for which he played in the Oberliga Südwest, Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz, the 2nd Bundesliga South and from the 2007/08 season to the 2016/17 season also in the German Bundesliga . In the Oberliga Südwest he had 9 wins in 9 games in the 2004/05 season and a DWZ performance of 2730.

Since August 2005 he has held the title of International Master . The norms for this he achieved in the Challengers tournament in Hastings in January 1993, at a First Saturday IM tournament in Budapest in July 2004 with overachievement and at the 37th International Festival in Biel , which began four days after the First Saturday tournament . In Biel he won victories against, among others, Alexandra Kostenjuk and Ivan Nemet . The title had not been applied for earlier because Dietmar Kolbus only achieved the required Elo rating of 2400 in July 2005.

He came to Trier through studies and was a player and captain of the city's top-class club. Dietmar Kolbus now lives on the Isle of Man and plays for the Manx Liberty club in the Four Nations Chess League (4NCL). On the Isle of Man, for example, he won first prize in the 2009 island championship in rapid chess .
