Theresienhospital |
Altestadt 2 map |
The hospital was built from the end of 1908 to 1912 on the former site of the Carmelite Convent , by the architect Caspar Clemens Pickel . It was operated until 1977 under the name Theresienhospital , the hospital of the Cellites and the Daughters of the Holy Cross . Afterwards it was a dormitory for sick seniors until the end of 2007. From the beginning of 2008, when the last twelve nuns of the Cross Sisters moved out, the building complex was unused. From the end of 2011 to the beginning of 2014, the three-wing complex was rebuilt on a gross floor area of around 13,000 square meters and a new building with 13 residential units, east of the courtyard on Ritterstraße, was added. The monument preservation requirements to preserve the entrance area as well as the aisles in accordance with the former hospital structure were complied with. Instead of the original gable roof, a spacious barrel roof was put on. | 1908-1912 | Dec. 7, 1984 |

Wine house Aunt Anna | Andreasstrasse 2 map |
The foundation of the house has existed since 1593 and was once the house and sick chapel of the Jesuit monastery in the old town. The Jesuit order had been active in Düsseldorf since 1619 and from 1622 to 1629 maintained the monastery (today Andreasstrasse 4, 6, 8) and a Jesuit grammar school on Mühlenstrasse (today the town hall ). Inside the guest room there are still old columns, a granite column next to the bar and the altar columns in the passage to the second room, as well as some church objects from the time of the Jesuits . Around 1820 the house was privately owned by the Oxenfort family and has served as an inn and tavern ever since. At the beginning of the 20th century the wine house "Zur alten Zeit" was renamed after the landlady "Tante Anna". Engelbert Oxenfort, named on the facade, led the wine house to the restaurant, which was expanded from 1974 to 2004. | 16. – 19. Century | May 25, 1983 |

Eiskellerstraße 9 (formerly Hafenwall) | The small house from around 1800 is one of the oldest houses in the northern part of the old town. The display sides are divided into three axes. The entrance is in the central axis of the southeast gable wall and has a natural stone border. The tile-roofed gable roof starts over a cornice, which surrounds the gable field above the entrance side. There is a lunette window in the gable.
Originally, the house was integrated into the neighboring monastery complex (in 1859 the monastery for the poor child of Jesus ) by means of a high wall on the street. The St. Anna-Stift der Michaelitinnen (sisters of St. Michael the Archangel) founded in 1871, at that time with a Catholic girls' home, became the owner of the house. |

Historic town house Düsseldorf | Mühlenstrasse 29–31 | Building complex with three inner courtyards with partly old walls of the former Jesuit monastery from 1650 and the Jesuit grammar school on Mühlenstraße. In 1816, Franz Andreas Lehmann and Friedrich Kelderhoff carried out renovations for the Prussian district government. The facade facing Andreasstrasse 4, 6 and 8 was redesigned in a classical style in 1823 by the master builder Karl Friedrich Schinkel . The current building at Mühlenstrasse 29 was built by 1900 according to plans by building councilor Bongard and government architect Kochs. Since 1987, Mühlenstrasse 29 has been the seat of the Düsseldorf Memorial , dedicated to the Düsseldorf victims and those persecuted by the Nazi regime. The “Hotel de Medici” with a brasserie, a Viennese coffee house, as well as a fitness and wellness area is now located in the building complex adjoining the Andreas Church at Mühlenstraße 31. The royal In 1888, building supervisor Ottomar Moeller described the building at Mühlenstrasse 31: “The government building, a former Jesuit monastery whose foundation stone was laid in 1625, is an unadorned, three-storey brick plastered building that encloses a large square courtyard with the Andreas Church. At the corner of Mühlenstrasse, on Friedrichsplatz (Grabbeplatz), the building has a tower-like structure that was formerly used as an observatory and as a station for the optical telegraph. " Paul Clemen added in 1894:" Only one of the noteworthy components has been preserved next to St. Andrew's Church Rest of the staircase with cross vaults and fighters resting on angel heads ”. | approx. 1650-1902 | Apr 1, 1985 |

Historic town house Düsseldorf | Andreasstrasse 4, 6, 8 | The buildings Andreasstrasse 4, 6 and 8 belong to the building complex of the Stadthaus Düsseldorf. The house at Andreasstrasse 8, which was combined to form the government building, was called "zur Schenkenschanze" in 1643 , according to Heinrich Ferber, and in 1709 it became the property of the Jesuits . According to Ferber, the building at Andreasstrasse 6, which at that time went through to Mühlenstrasse, belonged to the heirs of Johann Albrecht Reichsgraf von Schellart (1670–1754) in 1709 and later came into the possession of the Jesuits. Until the construction of the new State Archives, the offices of the archivist Theodor Joseph Lacomblet and his successors were located here on the first floor . The building at Andreasstrasse 4 connected to the one at Mühlenstrasse 29 was owned by Baron zu Wachtendonk zu Binsfeld in 1683, who sold it to Johann Engelberts in 1665. In 1810 the building passed from the heirs of Hofrat von Hagen to the city, which in 1820 built a girls' school on the side facing Mühlenstraße. | approx. 1650-1902 | Apr 1, 1985 |

Home to the lions | Ursulinengasse 1 | According to Edmund Spohr , the property at Ursulinengasse 1 is located on the so-called "new plant ", which was built in front of the old town around 1671 as a fortification extension of the city. The building stands at the point where Ursulinengasse joins the Reuterkaserne today . It was completed in 1892 by the Stomm brothers , Caspar Stomm (building contractor and architect) and Richard Anton Stomm (businessman), for the liqueur manufacturer's widow Theodor Maas, with business address at Ritterstraße 10 . The widow Maas, née Ferrier, left the building to the heirs. The term “House of the Lions” cannot be derived historically and probably refers to the decorative elements of the winged lions that adorn the building. | 1892 | Jan. 4, 1984 |

En de Canon | Zollstrasse 7 | The history of the house goes back to the 17th century. The house takes its name from the coat of arms of the then owner family Maurenbrecher above the entrance , which shows a cannon in the coat of arms. In addition to their transport mail, the family ran a wine shop with a bar. Even Elector Jan Wellem had deposited his cup and regularly feasted with its citizens and the artists who lingered at his court. | 17th, 18th century | 18 Mar 1985 |
