The architect of the building with its brick facade, windows with Gothic arches and roof gables with turrets was Wilhelm Sültenfuß . In 1893 the monastery of the Merciful Brothers in Monschau was opened here. 60 years later the monks left. In the 1960s, confectioner Otto Bittner acquired the building and relocated his chocolate production to the backyard. In the 1980s, the monastery chapel was demolished until it was finally listed as a historical monument in 2010. 1892 Feb. 26, 2010 A 1591
