Former baby home | Witzelstrasse 150, 150a (formerly Werstenerstrasse) map |
The infant home was built in 1908 according to plans by the architect Walter Furthmann for the "Association for Infant Care" founded by Arthur Schloßmann , with Maria Baum as managing director. In the 1920s, the building complex became a dormitory for the sisterhood of the Red Cross Düsseldorf . The seat of the sisterhood was also in the "nurses' home of the Düsseldorfer Frauenverein" at Moorenstrasse 48. In mid-2000 the building complex, directly opposite the university clinic and with the back facing the Düsseldorfer Volksgarten, a former part of the Unterbilker cemetery, was also known under the name "Villa Greif", the name of a company for buying and selling, managing and renting land, houses and apartments. | 1908 | Sep 15 1992 |
