Luther Church (Bilk)
The Luther Church is a Protestant church in Düsseldorf-Bilk , Kopernikusstraße 9, and is a listed building .
history
The church was built in 1925–1927 based on a design by the Düsseldorf architect Julius Stobbe . Stylistically, the architecture shows elements of classicism , but also of the moderate expressionism typical of the time - comparable to the buildings on the Düsseldorf courtyard in the style of the GeSoLei architecture from 1925/1926. The sculptor Emil Jungblut designed the shell limestone portals with children's figures .
The Luther Church was an important place for resistance during the Nazi regime. In the rectory of Luther Church was for the Confessing Church important pastor Brotherhood founded.
organ
The organ was built in 1991 by the organ builder Georg Westenfelder (Luxembourg). The slider chests -instrument has 35 registers on three manuals and pedal . The playing and stop actions are mechanical.
