Emil Jungblut (born June 11, 1888 in Düsseldorf ; † April 24, 1955 there ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Emil Jungblut first attended the arts and crafts school and later became a master class student at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . In order to expand his knowledge, he stayed in Paris for some time and made several trips to France, Italy and Holland. Jungblut was a member of the artists' association Malkasten , of which he was a board member for a long time.
The studio of the creator of numerous sculptures and sculptures from Düsseldorf was located in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel at Schanzenstrasse 115, on the site of the barrel storage facility for the chemical oils and fats “Dr. A. Schmitz ". The homeless, messenger boy and model of the Pitter Muggel art academy also lived here between the barrels of the camp.
Jungblut had his work carried out in the " August Bischoff bronze picture foundry " in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel. In this bronze and iron foundry, bronze statues from the area were melted down for new war equipment during World War II .
family
Jungblut was the son of the landscape painter Johann Jungblut (1860–1912), who came to Düsseldorf from Saarburg near Trier in 1885 . His brothers Walter Jungblut (1892–1941) and Hans Jungblut were, like their father, painters as well. Walter Jungblut's wife was also a painter from Düsseldorf. She was born as Johanette Blum in Benrath in 1909 and died in Düsseldorf in 2003.
plant
Jungblut devoted himself primarily to portraits in his work . However, he also created a number of animal sculptures and free figures. In 1913 and 1920 he took part in exhibitions with masks, portraits and sculptures of dancers in the style of Art Deco , which were recognized by critics. Numerous small sculptures such as Salome , Colombine , Harlequin and portraits of young blood, such as the bust of President Paul von Hindenburg , are now in private hands. Around 1933 Jungblut made a bronze bust of Albert Leo Schlageter , and in 1939 a bust of Ernst von Rath , which is now in the Düsseldorf City Museum . The marble bust of Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi , made in 1943, stands today in the entrance to the Malkastenpark .
