Preserved facade of the Palais Spinrath

The Palais Spinrath in Düsseldorf was originally a Coelester nunnery , which was built from 1696 to 1712 by Matteo Alberti at Ratinger Straße 15.

From 1805 to 1812, Adolph von Vagedes converted it into a three-story house. According to Heinrich Ferber, the house was home to “Cleff, Camphausen & Cie.” Since 1817, and then became the property of L [au] renz Spinrath (Lorenz Spinrath's painting factory in 1847), later his heir. From 1825 to 1859 the nationally important lithographic institute Arnz & Comp. Was located in the Spinrath'schen Palais . housed. The famous Düsseldorf painters Andreas and Oswald Achenbach had their studio in this building . From 1862 to 1883 the eye clinic under Albert Mooren was located here . In the Second World War damaged the facade was in the building complex of the former district court built.

The facade is listed. The building is considered an "important building of the early Vagedes era". It is a successful combination of baroque building and early classicist architecture, because the "solemn, heavy forms of early Vagedes classicism harmonize well with the pilasters adopted from the baroque building ". After its use as a district court had been abandoned, the street facade of the Palais was integrated into the building ensemble of the Andreasquartier real estate project in the 2010s .
