Dietmar Najock (born November 13, 1941 in Leipe , West Prussia ) is a German classical philologist .

Najock studied Classical Philology at the University of Göttingen . There he was particularly influenced by Jürgen Mau , who explored possible uses of IT in the humanities at an early stage . For his doctorate , Najock wrote an annotated new edition of the three anonymous ancient treatises on music theory , which Christian Friedrich Bellermann had first published in 1841. Najock's edition appeared in 1972 in the Göttingen musicological works (Volume 2) and in 1975 in the Bibliotheca Teubneriana .

After completing his doctorate, Najock studied mathematics at Bielefeld University . Under Rudolf Ahlswede he wrote his thesis Algorithms for the reconstruction of family trees , which he completed in 1978. From then on, Najock dealt with computational linguistics and corpus work in his scientific work . He worked in particular on the development of computer-aided methods for authenticity criticism , language statistics and the reconstruction of fragmentary texts. From the 1980s he collaborated with Georgios Fatouros and Tilman Krischer at the Free University of Berlin to create a Libanios concordance that was completed in 2003. In 1993 Najock completed his habilitation at the Free University of Berlin.
