Bernhard Kytzler
Bernhard Kytzler (born August 16, 1929 in Hindenburg -Mathesdorf) is a German classical philologist .
Bernhard Kytzler was at the Free University of Berlin in 1956 with a thesis on the Thebais of Statius doctorate . In 1964/1965 he was a fellow at the Center for Hellenic Studies at Harvard University . He completed his habilitation in 1970 at the Free University of Berlin and taught there as a professor from 1971 (retired in 1992). He was visiting professor at the Universities of Frankfurt (1966/1967), Fordham (1968/1969), Changchun (People's Republic of China, 1987 and 1995/1996 at the Institute for the History of Ancient Civilizations ) and since 1992 at the University of Natal in Durban , South Africa.
Kytzler deals with a wide range of topics within Classical Philology, in particular with Neo-Latin and the afterlife of antiquity. He has also published numerous translations of ancient authors. In 1965 he published the first Latin-German edition of Octavius by Marcus Minucius Felix . He is a member of the Historical Commission for Silesia .
