Gustl Müller-Dechent

Gustl Müller-Dechent (born June 4, 1915 in Munich as August Müller ; † October 29, 2016 in Salzgitter ) was chairman of the Socialist Youth Workers (SAJ) for Munich-South. From 1933 he was active in the resistance movement against fascism . He was imprisoned for political offenses during the Nazi regime .

After the Second World War he was one of the first reporters for both the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Radio Munich . As a local editor for the Main-Post in Würzburg , he created the character of Marktbärbl . Gustl Müller-Dechent then worked for the daily Main-Echo in Aschaffenburg for a few years before moving to Frankfurt am Main . There he was department head (abbreviation: gmd ) for Hesse , including the district editions , at the daily newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau until he retired. He is the author of several specialist books on the subjects of photography and film and the author of several books on fiction. He documented his experiences as a witness of the times of National Socialism and the resistance movement in his book Resistance in Munich - The Forgotten . He also made this book freely available as a PDF file in 2008 . Gustl Müller-Dechent lived in Salzgitter since 2002 .

  1. According to Bavarian custom, the first name August zu Gustl was abbreviated as a young man. He was known as Gustl Müller until 1972 . Since then he has had the official double name Müller-Dechent
