Dietmar Wyrwa

Dietmar Wyrwa (* 1943 in Ilmsdorf ) is a German Protestant church historian .

Life

After studying Protestant theology and philosophy with completion of the first theological exam and the subsequent study of classical philology, he worked from 1971 to 1972 as a research assistant at Hermann Dörries in Göttingen . From 1974 to 1987 he was assistant professor at the Theological Seminary in Berlin with Ulrich Wickert . After obtaining his doctorate in 1982 and his habilitation in 1988, he taught from 1988 to 1991 as a lecturer in church history at the church college in Berlin (West) . From 1989 to 1990 he held a chair at the theological faculty of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . From 1991 to 2009 he lectured as professor for church history / patristics at the Ruhr University in Bochum . Since 1999 he has been head of the Patristic Office in Bochum . From 2009 to 2013 he represented the chair for older church history at the theological faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin . Since 2011 he has been the head of the academy project Alexandrian and Antiochene Bible Exegesis at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences .
