Dietrich Elchlepp

Dietrich Elchlepp (born March 7, 1938 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German SPD politician . In 1976 he was a member of the German Bundestag and from 1996 to 1999 a member of the European Parliament .

Life

Elchlepp was born the son of a German and an Englishwoman. He passed the Abitur at a Freiburg grammar school and completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. He then began studying law and economics at the universities in Freiburg , Kiel and Berlin , which he completed in 1965 with the first state examination in law. After passing the second state examination in 1969, he worked as a scientific advisor for the SPD parliamentary group from 1970. From there he moved to the Federal Ministry of Education and Science in 1973 in the same position .

Elchlepp joined the SPD in 1966. On June 4, 1976, he replaced Erhard Eppler , who had left the German Bundestag, and remained a member until the end of the election period in the same year. In parliament he was a member of the Committee on Education and Science. From February 6, 1996 to July 19, 1999, he was a member of the European Parliament , where he was a member of the Committee on External Economic Relations. In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2001 , he applied for a mandate, but could not move into the state parliament.

Dietrich Elchlepp has lived in Denzlingen since 1972 . He has been campaigning against right-wing extremism since he was a student .
