Dietrich Weller

Dietrich Weller (* 1947 in Leonberg ) is a German writer doctor . Since May 2016 he has been President of the Federal Association of German Writers and Doctors (BDSÄ), of which he has been a member since 1997 and of which he had previously been 1st Vice-President since May 2012. Since 2012 he has been the editor of the Almanac of German-speaking Doctors of Writers .

Life

Weller was born in Leonberg, where he grew up. He completed a medical degree in Tübingen , Vienna and Mannheim . In 1972 he passed the state examination in Tübingen and received his doctorate in Mannheim. In 1977 he passed the US exam ( ECFMG ). He completed further training as a pediatrician (1979) and general practitioner (1981) and in 2007 received the additional qualification in palliative medicine .

After eleven years in his own practice as a family doctor and the subsequent establishment and management of a large mother-child rehabilitation clinic, he worked for ten years in the neurological rehabilitation clinics in Karlsbad-Langensteinbach and most recently in the Schmieder clinics in Gerlingen. He has been a pensioner since March 2012.

Weller gives regular lectures on topics of palliative medicine and general medicine . He also works in the emergency practices in Leonberg and Stuttgart.

Weller is married and has two children.
