The MX1 GmbH provides technical services for the preparation and distribution of audiovisual content via satellite and the Internet. The services offered are aimed at broadcasters , production companies and content providers. The uplink to the satellite, the digital archive and the broadcast center are located at the MX1 GmbH headquarters in Unterföhring near Munich. Customers include broadcasters from the private sector and a pay-TV provider.

history

As a subsidiary of what was then the Kirch Group , the Playout Center of BetaDigital GmbH took over the entire broadcasting of the digital TV platform DF1 since July 1996. As part of the insolvency processing of the Kirch Group and Kirch-Pay TV, Premiere acquired the broadcasting center in 2002 and founded the operating company DPC Digital Playout Center GmbH for this purpose. In June 2004, Premiere sold the company to SES Astra . As a result, the company was renamed Astra Platform Services. In April 2012, the name changed again as part of the umbrella brand strategy of the parent company SES SA Luxembourg and has since operated as SES Platform Services GmbH. After a merger in 2016 with the Israeli company RRMedia, the company is now called MX1.

Services

MX1 offers services related to the preparation, archiving and transmission of content for television and radio channels. In addition to digital archiving, this includes broadcast processing as well as the preparation and transmission of the content via satellite, the Internet and on mobile devices.

Services

  • Content Management: The digital archiving solution maps the entire material logistics process. The company digitizes the content of tapes and saves them in the digital archive ( digital archive ), converts video content and delivers it to video on demand platforms for further marketing. In total, over 140,000 hours of broadcast material are stored in the archive.
  • Playout center : broadcast processing for playing over 300 TV channels in standard definition ( SDTV ), high definition ( HDTV ), ultra high definition ( Ultra HD )
  • Encryption : Creation of encryption and controlled access models to only allow authorized users to access the content. Over 150 radio and TV channels are encrypted in this way.
  • Broadcast  : television broadcasting and broadcasting of radio and data services, as well as signaling in cable networks and terrestrial networks
  • Internet TV : Services for the distribution of video content and its delivery to VOD platforms
