Dimapur is a city in the state of Nagaland in eastern India . Dimapur is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . The city is located on the Dhansiri River .

As a city, Dimapur has the status of a Municipal Council and at the 2011 census it had almost 123,000 inhabitants. 41% of the population are followers of Hinduism , 45% are Christians , 11.2% are Muslims .

The city is connected to the Indian railway network and has an airport ( Dimapur Airport ). The highways AH 1 and AH 2 cross in Dimapur.

In the past, Dimapur was temporarily the capital of the Kachari kingdom.
