The Dhansiri is a left tributary of the Brahmaputra in the Indian states of Nagaland and Assam .

The Dhansiri rises in the wooded mountains of the Patkai Mountains about 50 km south of Dimapur . The Intanki National Park is located in its headwaters . The Dhansiri flows in a predominantly northerly direction through the Dimapur district . He passes the district capital of the same name. Then the river crosses the border with Assam. It initially forms the border between the districts of Karbi Anglong in the west and Golaghat in the east. South of the city of Golaghat , it takes its most important tributary, the Doyang , from the right. The Dhansiri flows through the city of Golaghat and then turns to the northwest. It finally reaches the south bank of the Brahmaputra 90 km east of Tezpur . The Dhansiri has a length of 354 km. Its catchment area covers 12,250 km².
