Dimili

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dimilî , Dunbulî or Dumbulî are a Kurdish tribe in northern and central Kurdistan , whose members speak different languages depending on the region. According to the Scheref name , the Dimili come from the Botan region (today approximately Şırnak Province ) and then spread between Lake Urmia and Lake Van . Because they came from Botan, they were also called Dunbulîye Boxtî (English: The Dunbulî from Botan) in the Scheref name.

During the Aq Qoyunlu era , the Dimili held important offices in their region and rose to become governors of the western Iranian provinces under the Safavids .

language

Dimilî is used as a synonym for Zazaisch in linguistics , since the Dimili in the province of Şanlıurfa speak Zazaisch. In contrast, they speak Kurmanji in northern Iraq and Erzurum . The situation in the province of West Azerbaijan , on the other hand, looks very different; according to Vladimir Fyodorowitsch Minorsky , the Shiite Dimilî living there have been linguistically assimilated since the 18th century and currently only speak Turkish .

religion

According to Şerefhan , the Dimilî were originally Yazidis who converted to Islam . Consequently, the Dimili in northern Iraq are still Yazidis, while in West Azerbaijan to Shi'ism confess. About the Shafiite Dimilî Kurds in Northern Kurdistan, Martin van Bruinessen says that they are extremely orthodox and even describe the Hanafis as unbelievers.
