Dimitrios Kallergis
Dimitrios Kallergis ( Greek Δημήτριος Καλλέργης , * around 1803 in Crete ; † April 24, 1867 in Athens ) was a Greek general and statesman .
Kallergis was raised in Saint Petersburg and studied medicine in Vienna . In Greek liberation struggle he fought at Georgios Karaiskakis and later became adjutant of the Supreme Fabvier and then the President Ioannis Kapodistrias . As commander of a cavalry division , he helped significantly in the bloodless revolution of September 3, 1843 ( September 15, 1843 greg. ). Then Kallergis was appointed general and promoted to adjutant to the king.
In 1845 he resigned from his position as adjutant, took his leave and went to Corfu , from there to London . Under Alexandros Mavrokordatos he was appointed to the cabinet and received the post of Minister of War . But he resigned in 1855. He then lived in Athens for a while.
From 1861 he was ambassador to Paris .
