Jerzy Lipman

Jerzy Lipman (born April 10, 1922 in Brest-Litowsk , Poland , now Belarus , † November 10, 1983 in London ) was a Polish cameraman .

Jerzy Lipman fought underground in the Polish Home Army against the German occupiers during World War II . He was a participant in the Warsaw Uprising and was wounded in the process. As a member of the Home Army, he was taken prisoner by the Soviets . After his release he went to Łódź and studied from 1948 to 1952 at the newly founded Łódź Film School . There he began working with the film student Andrzej Wajda . You first made short films. Lipman was then also the cameraman for Wajda's first full-length feature film A Generation 1955. Over the next few years, he worked with the great directors of the new generation of Polish filmmakers. In 1969 he left Poland and went to Germany , where he continued to work as a cameraman.
