Dimitris Christofi , also Demetres Christofi / Greek Δημήτρης Χριστοφή (born August 28, 1988 in Sotira ) is a Cypriot football player who has played for Omonia Nicosia since 2015 .

Career

Christofi drew attention to himself in the second division in his home club with his stamina and his strong shot on goal and was considered one of the most promising young players in Cyprus. He plays as a winger with tendencies to be a center forward.

Christofi first began his career in the Cypriot First Division in the neighboring town of Paralimni . His move to Omonia Nicosia in 2008 was the most expensive transfer in the history of Cypriot football at € 850,000. There he received a contract for 4 years with an annual salary of € 150,000, which is also a Cypriot record.

In June 2013 he moved to the Swiss first division club FC Sion for two seasons. Since 2015 he has been active again for his former club Omonia Nicosia .

Since 2008 he has been a permanent member of the Cypriot national football team .
