Dinand Woesthoff (born September 6, 1972 in Gorinchem ; actually Marco Frank Ferdinand Woesthoff ) is a Dutch pop / rock singer . He became known as the singer of the band Kane .

Career

Woesthoff was born the son of his Indonesian father and Dutch mother. He grew up in the small town of Gorinchem. As a student he came to The Hague , where he has lived ever since. In 1998 he founded the band Kane there together with guitarist Dennis van Leeuwen . The first single by the two musicians hit the Dutch charts. Her debut album As Long As You Want This stayed in the hit lists in her home country for 97 weeks and was awarded double platinum . Three more successful studio albums have followed since then.

After their son Dean Maddy was born in June 2003, Woesthoff married the Dutch actress Guusje Nederhorst on September 17, 2003 in Las Vegas . Four and a half months after the marriage, Nederhorst died on January 29, 2004 of complications from breast cancer .

Woesthoff processed the death of his wife in the song Dreamer (Gussie's Song) . Shortly after it was released as a single, it entered the Dutch charts at number 1 at the end of February 2004 and stayed there for two weeks. The ballad was the best-selling single in the Netherlands that year. All proceeds from the sale of 273,000 euros went to the Dutch cancer aid organization KWF Kankerbestrijding .

Dinand's second son Jimi Frank was born on December 16, 2006.

In 2014 he recorded the song Legendary Lane for the Sochi Olympics . Almost exactly 10 years to the day after Dreamer , he had his second chart entry in the Nederlandse Top 40 .
