Dine Petrik (born September 3, 1942 in Unterfrauenhaid in Burgenland ) is an Austrian writer. At the age of 17 she left her hometown Unterfrauenhaid. Since then she has lived in Vienna . Petrik has two grown children.

Life

Dine Petrik, born in central Burgenland in 1942, is the daughter of a musician. In 1945, almost three years old, she lost her father and an older brother (World War II). She had a tough childhood. At the age of seventeen she moved to Vienna. Various bread-and-butter jobs, from office apprentices to secretaries. She completed the commercial school in evening classes as well as the Vienna art school. She has been working as a freelance writer since the late 1980s and has received several awards and grants. Publications in various publishers: poetry, essays, stories, travel literature and non-fiction. Recently published: "Biblio theca Alexandrina.
