Thing song
Ding Song ( Chinese 丁松 , Pinyin Dīng Sōng ; born September 5, 1971 ) is a Chinese table tennis player . In the 1990s he was twice world champion in team competition.
Career
Ding Song was considered the world's best defender . He participated in the 1995 and 1997 World Championships . Both times he won gold with the Chinese men's team. In 1995 he took bronze in the individual. He reached the quarter-finals in 1997 in singles and mixed with Wang Hui.
He won the ITTF Pro Tour tournaments in 1996 in Kitaku-Shu (Japan) and 1997 in Melbourne (Australia).
In 1997 he ended his career as a competitive athlete. A year later he moved from the Shanghai team to Germany and played for the Bundesliga club TTF Bad Honnef in the 1998/99 season . With his men's team he reached the final of the ETTU Cup in 2003 . Then he joined the TTC Frickenhausen . Here, too, he reached the final of the ETTU Cups with the team in 2003.
In 2003 he returned to China and competed in the Superliga ( Table Tennis Super League ). Since 2008 he has worked as a trainer at universities in Shanghai. Today he lives in Shanghai.
