Dino Crisis 2 is a video game from Capcom and the sequel to the title Dino Crisis . The game is structured similarly to its predecessor in terms of theme and operation, but has been slightly modified in terms of gameplay and genre and relies more on action and less on survival horror , which makes it more different from its predecessor than, for example, the Resident Evil series up to part 4. It was released in 2000 for the PlayStation and a little later for Windows . In 2003 the successor Dino Crisis 3 appeared . The PSone version is also available for PS3 and PSP via PlayStation Network .

action

A special unit enters a prehistoric jungle through a time gate and is surprised and hunted by velociraptors and a Tyrannosaurus rex (T-Rex). The two main characters, who are controlled alternately in the game, Regina (known from the predecessor) and Dylan, narrowly escape the carnage and occasionally get support from a comrade named David. Starting with an abandoned research base, over an underwater base and finally in a huge facility including a time gate, the player gets to know the characters better and learns the secret of the futuristic, human opponents and their relationship to Dylan.

Gameplay

Unlike its predecessor, which resembled Resident Evil , Dino Crisis 2 uses numerous action sequences. The player has a lot of ammo from the start and fighting is a big part of the game. A new feature is that the character can shoot two-handedly in all directions while running and receives a so-called combo bonus for many of the exclusively prehistoric opponents killed , which adds additional action to the game. Keys and other rare or action-relevant objects can be found in the game landscape, other objects are bought at “health terminals”. In addition, the game now includes mini-games, such as keeping a plesiosaur chasing the character with the motorboat gun or preventing an angry triceratops from knocking the jeep while escaping in a jeep through a forest.
