Dionysius van der Sterre

Dionysius van der Sterre (* around 1650 in Engelen , Noord-Brabant , Netherlands ; † 1691 near Riohacha , Colombia ) was a Dutch doctor, Protomedicus on Curaçao and member of the academy of scholars " Leopoldina ".

Dionysius van der Sterre was the chief doctor of the Dutch trading company in East India. Among other things, he dealt with the caesarean section.

On October 1, 1690, Dionysius van der Sterre, nicknamed VALERIUS MAXIMUS, was accepted into the Leopoldina as a member ( matriculation no. 183 ) .

He died on a sea voyage near the Rio de la Hache River , Colombia .
