Jason W. Moore

Jason W. Moore (born January 30, 1971 ) is an American historian and professor of sociology .

Life

Moore received his bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon , where he graduated in political science and sociology in 1994 . He then studied history at the University of California, Santa Cruz . He completed his master’s degree in 1997. In 2007 he received his PhD in geography from the University of California, Berkeley . He then embarked on an ongoing academic career and held various positions at several universities, including outside the United States.

Moore researches and publishes in particular on the subject of capitalism and the environment, especially with a view to their historical development and their current crisis.

Moore has been teaching since 2013 a. a. World History and World Ecology at Binghamton University in the Sociology Department. He coordinates the World Ecology Research Network .

In 2004 Moore was awarded the Alice Hamilton Prize of the American Society for Environmental History . He is married and has one child.
