Dirk-Boris Rödel (* 1969 in Tettnang ) is a German journalist and non-fiction author ; until 2017 he was editor-in-chief of the magazines Tattoo Magazine and Tattoo Style .

Life

Dirk-Boris Rödel studied Japanese Studies and Empirical Cultural Studies at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen , with a focus on Japanese tattooing . 1994–1995 he spent in Kyoto at Dôshisha University, deepened his knowledge and made contact with Japanese tattoo masters in Osaka , Yokohama and Tokyo . In 1999 Rödel wrote his master's thesis on the subject of the development of Japanese tattoo art in the Edo period and its development up to the present day and accepted a position as editor-in-chief of the magazine Tatowier Magazin . He gave up this position in 2017.

Dirk-Boris Rödel himself has a significant amount of tattoos , and his hobbies include antique maritime memorabilia and the bagpipe game.
