Career

At the age of 20, Grempler came to SG Dynamo Eisleben from third-class district division Motor Quedlinburg for the 1988/89 season . Here he played for a year and a half. When Eisleben football was restructured as a result of the political turnaround in 1990, Grempler moved to 1. FC Magdeburg, which was playing in the GDR major league at the time. The 1.83 m tall Grempler played his first competitive game for Magdeburg's first team as a right defender on February 23, 1990, the 14th matchday of the 1989/90 season, in the league game 1. FCM - FC Carl Zeiss Jena (0: 2). He was used in eleven other point games by the end of the season. 1990/91 he was a regular for the FCM with 20 appearances throughout the season. Since the Magdeburg had missed the qualification for the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the season, Grempler played from 1991/92 only in third class in the amateur Oberliga Nordost. Here he completed 70 point games by the end of the 1993/94 season. He added another 14 hits to his two goals from the GDR league. Between 1990 and 1994 he also appeared in 17 national and two European Cup matches.

In July 1994 Grempler left 1. FC Magdeburg and signed a contract with FSV Lok Altmark Stendal, which, unlike the Magdeburg team, had qualified for the new regional league. When Grempler ended his career as an active football player after the 2000/01 season, he had played 188 competitive games for FSV Lok Altmark. He was a player- coach at Osterburger FC until 2004 , after which he became a coach at the seven-tier national division TUS Schwarz-Weiß Bismark. Grempler works full-time at the economic development office of the Stendal district.
