The Osterburger FC was founded after 1945 as a loose sports group under the name SG Osterburg . The municipality of Osterburg then supported the SG as a sponsoring company , and like all the teams in the state administration, the BSG was subsequently run under the name of Einheit Osterburg within the central sports association .

On a sporting level, Einheit Osterburg and Turbine Magdeburg were promoted to the then fourth-class district league Magdeburg in 1959 , in which the Altmarkers were consistently in a relegation battle in the first two seasons. In 1961/62 the "unit" drove in front of tractor blocks and unit Salzwedel the Magdeburg runner-up, in which the possible advancement to the third class II. GDR league was narrowly missed behind unit Burg . In the FDGB-Pokal , unit Osterburg reached the first main round after qualifying victories over Empor Grabow and Motor Schwerin in the season 1956, against the second division Motor Dessau Osterburg lost 2: 3. In 1963, with the establishment of Börde Magdeburg , the Osterburg unit rose again from the Magdeburg district league football. There was no return until 1990.

In 1990 the club was renamed SV Eintracht Osterburg, and in 2001 the football department was split off and has been the Osterburger FC ever since. The club played consistently in Altmark local football, the current division of the OFC is the state class of Saxony-Anhalt.
