Dirk Haaga

Dirk Haaga (born August 26, 1962 ; † October 2, 2006 at Hahntennjoch , Imst district , Tyrol ) was a German computer scientist and managing director of Red Hat Germany.

Haaga studied computer science at the University of Stuttgart . In 1994 he founded Delix GmbH with the business focus on Linux and Internet . In 1995 Delix brought the first German-language Linux distribution Deutsche Linux-Distribution (DLD) onto the market. In 1999, the Linux division was sold to Red Hat and, in this context, Red Hat Deutschland GmbH was founded. From then until his death, Haaga was managing director of Red Hat Deutschland GmbH.

Haaga was a co-founder and member of the first board of directors of the LIVE Linux-Verband eV founded in 1997 and the Linux Solutions Group eV (Lisog) founded in 2005 .

He had a fatal accident on October 2, 2006 in a motorcycle accident on the Hahntennjoch in the Tyrolean district of Imst.
