Dirk Hofmann (born June 6, 1969 in Meschede ) is a former German soccer player and today's soccer coach .

Career

player

Hofmann played for Borussia Dortmund until 1992 . He played in the Bundesliga , on matchday 34 of the 1990/91 season he played his first and last Bundesliga game in a 5-2 win over FC St. Pauli . In the following season he was not used and then moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for VfL Osnabrück , where he played 41 games in one season and scored his first goal in professional football. His style of play was characterized by his hard pace. This season Hofmann was sent off twice, once with a red and once with a yellow-red card, and he also received 22 yellow cards. He then moved to league rivals SpVgg Unterhaching . In Unterhaching he was part of the regular staff in his first season, and was a supplementary player in the following seasons. The highlight of his time at the game association was promotion to the Bundesliga in the 1998/99 season , when the runner-up was celebrated. In the following two Bundesliga years Hofmann was part of the squad, but was not used in the league. In 2001 he ended his career as a player.

Trainer

Following his playing activities, Hofmann moved to the coaching camp, his first position was as assistant coach at the Arab club Al Khaleej from Khor Fakkan under coach Egon Coordes . This was followed by positions at 1. FFC Recklinghausen , SC Neheim , Borussia Dröschede and the Werder Bremen women's team .
