The Sebastiankolonie was a factory settlement that was built between 1875 and 1889 for the workers of the nearby Augsburg-Nürnberg (MAN) machine factory . Similar to the Kammgarnquartier , it consisted of multi-storey workers' houses that were laid out in a grid along Sebastianstrasse. The buildings themselves were simple bare brick structures without any conspicuous design elements, but surrounded by gardens. The factory settlement was named after the St. Sebastian monastery directly opposite .

The Sebastian colony has been changed several times over the years and is hardly recognizable as such today. Some of the buildings in the original colony were demolished and replaced by larger, more modern residential buildings. In the rear part of Sebastianstrasse, however, there are still buildings from the time when the Sebastian colony was built.
