Stadtbach district
The Augsburg Stadtbachquartier was a factory settlement that was located in the immediate vicinity of the cotton mill on the Stadtbach and served as accommodation for the factory workers employed there. Between 1859 and 1875 over 30 one and two-story residential buildings were built, which were inhabited by several families. In addition to the apartments, the working-class families had access to various communal facilities, such as a dining and laundry room and shops for supplying everyday items.
In the 1980s, the Stadtbach district was completely demolished. Today the area belongs to UPM-Kymmene (former Haindl paper mill ) and was largely built over with production halls and parking lots.
