Dirk Pfeil (born January 4, 1948 in Cologne ) is a Hessian politician ( FDP ) and former Vice President of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Pfeil did an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and served as a regular soldier . After studying and graduating as a business economist, he has been working as an independent management consultant in Frankfurt am Main and bankruptcy and insolvency administrator since 1976.

Among other things, Pfeil is the insolvency administrator of Gigabell AG . As an Opel trustee, he had spoken out against the - ultimately failed - sale to Magna from the start .

Party career

Dirk Pfeil has been a member of the FDP since 1977 and is active there in various board positions. From 1982 to 1993 he was district chairman of the FDP district association Main-Kinzig and from March 2004 to April 2012 district chairman of the FDP district association Frankfurt am Main . Since 1987 he has been a member of the state board of the FDP Hesse and treasurer there since April 2007.

Public offices

In terms of local politics, he was a community representative and deputy parliamentary group chairman in Schöneck from 1985 to 1987, and from 1981 to 1989 as deputy parliamentary group leader and parliamentary group manager in the district council of the Main-Kinzig district.

From 1987 to 1995, Pfeil was a member of the Hessian state parliament, where he was treasurer of the FDP parliamentary group and from 1991 to 1995 he was vice-president of the Hessian state parliament.

Political positions

After the defeat of the FDP in the Berlin state election in 2011, Pfeil told the Frankfurter Neue Presse that the majority of voters were too uneducated to understand the FDP's message. Therefore it will never become a people's party. To be liberal is not a mass opinion. When asked whether he was annoyed by the pirates' success in Berlin, Pfeil said that no, that didn't annoy him, that he had given up. He added: "I despair of the unwillingness of voters to do a little bit smarter." The statements sparked indignant reactions from numerous other politicians.
