Dirk Schumann (art historian)

Dirk Schumann (born 1964 ) is a German art historian and architectural historian.

Life

Dirk Schumann was initially trained as a surveyor. He studied art history, cultural studies as well as prehistory and early history at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He works as a freelance art historian and building archaeologist with a focus on medieval architecture. Schumann has been teaching at the Humboldt University, the University of Potsdam , the University of Lüneburg and the University of Greifswald since 2004 . Together with Ernst Badstübner , he is the editor of the series of studies on brick architecture .

Schumann is a member of the Brandenburg Historical Commission and board member of the State Historical Association for the Mark Brandenburg .
