Disney's Weekend Kids (Original Title: The Weekenders ) is an animated series by the Walt Disney Company and was created by Douglas Langdale . The series tells about four twelve-year-olds and accompanies them through their experiences over the weekend. Weekend Kids first aired in 2000 and is no longer in production. The series aired four seasons. The setting is the fictional, medium-sized city of Bahia Bay, which is settled in California .
main characters
- Tino Tonitini
- Most of the episodes are told from his point of view, so he greets the audience and says goodbye with "Wirsing". Tino can be described as the average but a little scared boy who loves comics and video games. He gets excited about something very quickly and his achievements in sports leave a lot to be desired. He makes sarcastic remarks very often. Since his parents are divorced, he lives with his mother as an only child.
- Petratishkovna "Tish" Katsufrakis
- She is the intelligent and educated of the group who loves Shakespeare and cultural events. With her unusual preferences and her high level of intelligence, she stands out a little from her friends, but she is not a loner and you can have fun with her. Tish is artistically gifted, very socially inclined and helpful. She is also a Lithuanian Jew, a vegetarian and plays dulcimer as an instrument in the German translation. In the English-language original she plays Dulcimer , who can also be seen in the series.
- Carver René Descartes
- He sees himself as the cool one in the group. The African American loves shoes and food. Carver has a little brother named Todd (around two years old) and a big sister named Penny (around 16 years old), who often get on his nerves. He is also in love with Moira and has very bad handwriting, which is a kind of running gag in many episodes.
- Lorraine "Lor" McQuarrie
- Lor is a gifted and very talented athlete. She likes and does every kind of sport imaginable, but is not particularly intelligent for it. Sometimes she can freak out and be pretty rude, but that usually goes away quickly. Lor has a total of 14 brothers. She's somewhere in the middle in the order of birth. The brothers are all very similar in nature and often fight with each other. Your ancestors come from Scotland. She's a tomboy , although sometimes, when she wants to win over her crush Thompson, she also wears clothes.
Minor characters
- Mrs. Tonitini, Tino's mother
- She is always at Tino's side with words and deeds and always knows what's going on in his head. In almost every episode, Tino receives advice for life from his mother at the dining table. Tino's mother is known for her somewhat idiosyncratic and dangerous cooking style and knows her son so well that it seems to him that she can read minds.
- Mr. Tonitini, Tino's father
- He lives separately from his wife and Tino, and Tino and his father are similar in many ways. So both of them are pretty scared and partly paranoid. In addition, he has a rather pronounced mania for cleaning and is afraid of every insect and every bacteria.
- Dixon
- Dixon is Tino's mother's boyfriend. He is very agile and skilled in his craft. In the beginning, Tino was strictly against a relationship between the two, until he found out that Dixon is enthusiastic about teenage things and is therefore the "coolest adult of all time". Dixon has a 14 year old daughter named Moira.
- Moira
- She is Dixon's daughter, who, like Carver, is interested in shoes. Carver falls in love with her the first time they meet in Teslapark.
- Mrs. Katsufrakis, Tish's mother
- She never found her way into American culture, so she didn't have a lot of linguistic experience, so Tish corrects her again and again. She is half Russian, half Mongolian and of Persian origin. She has been expelled from her country of origin for using a special billiards trick that made the Prime Minister hobble.
- Coach Ned Colson
- He's the gym teacher at the four friends' school. He sometimes also organizes sports events on weekends and is a real muscle pack, but can be quite brutal and tough. The worst thing for the friends is that he always opens his front door in his dressing gown.
- Bree and Colby
- The boy (Colby) and the girl (Bree) are known to everyone as The Cool Kids . They preferably lean against house walls to just hang out.
- Thompson Overman
- He is Lor's crush. She tries again and again to impress him and he also finds her very nice. Thompson has blue hair and is wearing sunglasses.
- Foods-of-the-World-Lady
- She is a very monotonous and cuddly speaking woman who serves exotic meals and explains to the students during their visit to the Bahia Bayer Heimatmuseum what food is being served to them. The dishes presented are all actually available, such as couscous or kalakukko .
- Bluke Fishman
- He is a very simple-minded, fat boy about twelve years old in overalls. It serves as a so-called sidekick , as it often seems to attract misfortune. But because of his very simple thinking he is able to draw logical conclusions more quickly, which is why one could call him a genius despite his slight cognitive retardation.
- Frances
- Frances is a girl who usually only speaks a few short sentences such as B. "I like fancy things" and "I am paper scissors" repeated and then mostly giggles. Bluke seems to have a certain affection for her, which she does not understand, however, as she does not react to his persuasion. She is said to have been Tish's best friend in the past.
- Chloe Montez
- Chloe herself never appears in the picture, but is repeatedly mentioned by name. A constant running gag of the series is that Tino and his friends often report on their numerous accidents, which often lead to the location they wanted to visit being closed on the weekend. For example, a dinosaur exhibition is closed because a mechanical pterodactyl malfunctioned, caught Chloe Montez and the security service now has to rescue her from the trunk of a mammoth. For example, the girls' toilet is closed again during a Halloween celebration because Chloe disguised herself as a contact lens and fell on the floor and can no longer be found.
