Disrupt was an American grind and crustcore band from Lynn (Massachusetts) . They are considered to be one of the first bands to combine political crustcore with grindcore.

Band history

Disrupt was founded in 1987 in Lynn (Massachusetts) and existed from 1987 to 1994. During this time, the band had a number of members who were constantly exchanged. The regular cast included two singers, two guitarists, a bass player and a drummer. In 1994, Unrest ( Relapse Records ) was the only complete music album by the group. Otherwise, the band mainly released split releases , singles and extended plays . After a European tour, the group broke up due to personal and musical differences. Four members of Disrupt later formed the hardcore punk band Grief .

Relapse Records has since released a number of compilations of older Disrupt tracks.

Music genre

Disrupt played a mixture of discharge- influenced crustcore or D-beat with various grindcore elements. In addition to Discharge, the group was musically influenced by Extreme Noise Terror , Crude SS , Chaos UK , The Varukers and Rattus . The texts dealt with social problems and were written from an extremely left, anarchist point of view. Vegetarianism made up another part of the texts. The covers of the various publications mostly contained real recordings of political demonstrations, political casualties and animals killed. The cover design was also based on Discharge.
