The distance stone is a landmarked milestone in the town of Güntersberge of city Harzgerode in resin in Saxony-Anhalt .

The Anhalt quarter milestone is now on the edge of Siptenfelder Straße on its north side, roughly opposite the confluence of Bahnhofstraße. The Siptenfelder Straße is part of the course of the federal highway 242 . A milestone stands diagonally in front of him .

Design and history

The small round base stone was erected after 1850 as part of the construction of the Anhalt Art Route . The whitewashed stone apparently bears the indication of distance mile 5 as an inscription , but a closer look reveals a 13.25. It is therefore a Anhalt quarter milestone, because 1/4 mile can also be read next to it . The zero point of the miles in Anhalt was in Dessau at the monument to Prince Leopold. The Anhalt mile corresponded to the Prussian mile and was 7.532 kilometers long.

The quarter milestone is at least at its third location. It is not known exactly when it was brought to Güntersberge, but this probably took place after the conversion to kilometers in 1874. It served as a curbstone in Bärenröder Strasse before it was moved to the whole milestone in Siptenfelder Strasse . In the local register of monuments , the distance stone is recorded as a small monument under registration number 094 84979 . Anhalt quarter milestones are only known from the former territory of Anhalt-Bernburg . These survived the time by chance, so it is not certain whether they were also in the other territories ( Anhalt-Köthen , Anhalt-Dessau ).
