Divine Ascension is an Australian symphonic , power and progressive metal band from Melbourne , which was founded in 2007.

history

The band was formed in 2007. In 2010 keyboardist Don Marciano left the line-up and was replaced by David Van Pelt. In December of that year the band could be seen at the Sonic Forge Festival and the following year they played on the Australian part of Progfest . In 2011 the debut album As the Truth Appears was released via Nightmare Records . In 2013 Divine Ascension acted as opening act for Kamelot , before the second album Liberator followed at ViciSolum Productions in late 2014 . In 2015 they went on a national tour with Blind Guardian , before later that year they went on a tour of Europe with Stratovarius and Gloryhammer , which included 31 appearances.

style

Brian Giffin called the band's music progressive power metal in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal. According to Pete Pardo from seaoftranquility.org , As the Truth Appears features a mixture of symphonic and power metal in the style of Nightwish , Epica , After Forever and Within Temptation , with progressive elements being repeatedly incorporated. The songwriting is solid, the vocals powerful and the keyboard sounds orchestral. The male chant used in Answers is reminiscent of that of Tom Englund from Evergrey . Jenny Rönnebeck from Rock Hard also summarized the Liberator style as a mix of power and symphonic metal, but similarities to Symphony X can be heard again and again . The album was well produced and provided with warm, female vocals. Rönnebeck also saw a resemblance to Kamelot and Everygrey.
