California in 1849. The residents of the small town of Jamestown are in the middle of a gold rush when a miner and his father recover a mysterious spherical meteor and wheel it into the idyllic western town. Almost all of the residents gather around the find, but instead of the shiny treasures they had hoped for, there is a puzzling greenish substance inside the meteor that emits steam and spores when the coveted object is opened and turns the residents into bloodthirsty monsters within a very short time.

A bounty hunter who has previously visited the village to collect the high bounty for an Indian who is wanted on a wanted poster and allegedly raped and murdered a white woman is first met by a rival in the search for the fugitive near Jamestown disturbed, then suddenly attacked by dubious figures. While the Indian believes in demons and suspects ghosts behind the attacks, the hunter first sees lepers behind the attacks. But soon the bounty hunter and the Indians, who also have a young woman named Rhiannon with them, notice that things are happening here that are far from normal reality. After you have inevitably allied yourself against the mutants with common sense, the fight against the Horde begins. Rhiannon, who was slightly injured in an attack, is housed in a house in the city that is barricaded from the outside with boards to protect her from the creeping creatures. Towards morning the girl in the house wakes up because she heard noises. She starts looking for the source of the noise and is horrified to find that she is dealing with a blind mutant who detects every little noise in the house, after Rhiannon has removed her shoes, she can the mutated woman with one Kill machete before it can attack. Outside the house, the situation is no less dangerous. The bounty hunter who wants to drag the girl off the street is attacked by one of these creatures and briefly loses his revolver. Then the Indian rushes on the monster and tries to save the girl, but the blow with the ax does not incapacitate the creature, it is too strong and the Indian pays his courage with his life. The bounty hunter who got his weapon back in his possession then kills the creature with an aimed shot in the head. While the gunslinger gives the girl his Deringer pistol to defend himself, he sets out on his own to clear the area around the place of as many of the creatures as possible in order to somehow get out of town safely. After the bounty hunter has killed around a dozen of the mutants, he returns to Rhiannon, who has meanwhile held one of the creatures at her body with a targeted shot. But the attacks continue unabated in the village and one of the mutants is only shot by the bounty hunter and before he can reload, the creature overpowers him and bites him in the neck. The girl can reload and shoot the mutant, but too late. While dying, the bounty hunter gives the girl his bonuses with the request to bring them to his beloved wife on a farm in order to buy himself out of the debts there, Rhiannon promises him. When several new mutants appear nearby, the young woman is about to shoot herself with the last cartridge when suddenly help approaches unexpectedly. The rival of the bounty hunter, a German who showed up at the beginning and wanted to catch the Indian himself, and was attacked by a creature, survived injured and kills the creatures that tried to attack the girl. Together you now face dangerous creatures in the wild. Determined to fight your way free as long as the ammunition lasts.
